Every path begins with a first step. For us, this first step was a concrete problem encountered in dental practice. The culmination of this path is the Root Tip Extractor.
In contrast to customary tools designed for removal of tooth fragments, our patented rootEX Root Tip Extractor offers a simple and safe method for root tip extraction without complications and in one piece. The innovative integration of the drilling segment and the retentive segment in one instrument allows for the new and unique functionality of the rootEX Root Tip Extractor.
The drilling segment makes it possible to clean the root canal and enlarge it or to drill into the tooth fragment.
Unlike customary tools, which are twisted into the root tip like a screw, overtwisting of the rootEX Root Tip Extractor can be ruled out so any further cracking of the tooth fragment is prevented.
As soon as the drilling segment has penetrated the root canal or the fragment as far as necessary, the retentive element of the rootEX Root Tip Extractor creates a form-fitting and/or force-locking connection with the tooth fragment.
This ensures extraction of the tooth fragment from the alveolus in one piece without complications in the next step.
The rootEX® instruments enable quick and inexpensive root remnant extraction without additional surgical intervention. There is no need to mill out the remainder of the root, which prevents the jaw from weakening.
In the first step, pre-drilling enables the tooth fragment to be cleaned and opened. In the second step, the plug is pressed into the fragment and as soon as the plug is pressed deep enough into the tooth fragment, the retentive elements of the rootEX® root tip extractor creates a form-fitting and/or force-locking connection with the tooth fragment. In this way, the subsequent, complication-free extraction in one piece from the alveolus is guaranteed.
In 2016, Rainer Ganß addressed a problem encountered by a dentist for which there was no simple and economic solution. The objective was to be able to remove root tip fragments WITHOUT surgical intervention. After the development of several prototypes, the design of the rootEX Root Tip Extractor was finalized and implemented. The result is a precise drill head made of medical steel.
.
With the help of its retentive elements, milled using state-of-the-art laser technology, the rootEX Root Tip Extractor is able to extract root tip fragments after tooth extraction using a minimally invasive procedure.
In 2017, the rootEX Gmbh & Co. KG was founded with an aim towards patenting the system and implementing its market launch.
"Handling and efficiency of the instrument are both excellent. It is easy to use, very minimalistic and self-explanatory. It could conceivably also be used in other areas, for example in the area of endodonty."
“A fantastic idea! So far I have tried to buy a Hedström file to extract root tip fragments, but your instrument is much better. Congratulations!“
"Of course it's important not to overtax the instrument as regards the root fragment (size) to be extracted. Keep up the good work!"
"Possibly different lengths, perhaps also different diameters.. as well as a depth mark at 1.5mm!"
"The cost of the instrument is the decisive criterion since it can't be billed to the health insurer or the patient, for example for an X3."
"As a single-use instrument I can hardly charge the patient for it afterwards; multiple use would be better if possible. A good niche product."
"Forceps missing… Otherwise good, please continue development."
"Usable for root tip extractions in rare cases but good and frequently usable for root canal preparation. You would need different sizes."
"So far I have always tried to remove small root tips with the WF file. This is a good idea and it works even better!"
"Thans for the innovative product."
"Recommendable."
"The product works good on movable roots."
The rootEX Root Tip Extractor has already been presented in various specialist publications and discussed with interest in professional circles.
